I just thumbed through my books and pulled a few—these are all from the v2 Martian Manhunter series written by Ostrander

The latter deals a lot more intimately with his origins and his family and spends some more time with “natural” J’onn. 

There are references to his previous life sporadic throughout that run—he re-visits Mars in #27, for instance. Overall the whole series is really great and I recommend it a lot. 

Outside of that run, there are a lot of more “natural” representations of him in the 1988 MM run, but the entirety of that one is a little less accessible than Ostrander, I think. 

I know there are in various and sundry JLA appearances but I don’t have any numbers off the top of my head.
