Now Watching: Planet of the Apes (1968)

Perhaps it was because I grew up with this film, but the sense of suturing with the world this film creates is never lost on me. As soon as those bleating horns announce the arrival of the apes, I’m lost in this movie. John Chambers’ makeup effects are so monumental and completely iconic. Just perfect.
